What Are The Chances Of Turning Weakly Positive HIV Results To Negative?

Dear DR. Sunil Bhargava,

I've been tested yesterday with a rapid HIV test and the result came out weakly positive. I was asked to do a confirmatory test again and I'm now waiting for the result but the anxiety is setting in. I'm really worried and i'd like to know what are the chances (or percentages) of those weakly positive results would turn out negative? Thank you

yes there is chance that your weak positive results may come positive. but we cants say it as percenatge. because it depends on amny things like intensity of band, which kits they are using, sensitivity of that kits etc, so go for confirmatory hiv testing. go for p24 antigen test or pcr.and confirm your result.
