What Are The Common Causes Of A Change In Stool Shape?

Embarassing. But here it goes. I had posterior prolapse repair and perineorraphy recently. I had colorectal surgery and rectocele repair about a year ago . Rectocele repaired failed. My bowels are beter, but today I had a long old rag like string of poop with food like pieces attatched to the strings. I literally had to pull it out of my rectum as it would not end. Help? I had a little cramping on my right nothing major. I rexenrly started exercising . I am on metamucil fiber too. What is this flesh rag like string?

thank you for contacting HCM. Post operative we may see this mostly from constipation and local muscle weakness.

you should keep continuing pelvic floor exercises that will strengthen the muscles over there.

next thing is you have to avoid constipation. make sure you get loose to soft stools that way you no need to strain a lot. this will avoid tears.

if you have any pain or heavy bleeding should contact the surgeons soon.

get well soon
