What Are The Complications Of Having Thalassemia During Pregnancy?
doctor i m a 9 month pregnent women (this is my first baby) and i did PPBS test and it indicated that i have HGB 10.7 g/dl (71.3/%).my doctor asked me to do anthor blood test for thalseemia.because she told me i have in margin of lack of himoglobin line.so do i have a risk about thalseemia and if i have it what will happen for my baby?? i m really need to know this clearly.thank you.

Hi, I understand your concern. Thalassemia can be diagnosed by specific blood testing to detect genetic mutation causing thalassemia. It seems you doctor has already advised for the same. - Baby can inherit depending on the status of both parents about thalassemia.( According to Mendals on law of inheritance) -Bany has risk of developing spina bifida .. this can be prevented if mother has taken folic acid in pregnancy. - Delivery has to be hospital delivery.. for ease of management of anemis/ LSCS delivery. Thanks.
