What Are The Complications Of Uterus Pressing Firmly Against Colon?

I have a hysterectomy scheduled for Feb 6th, 2014. My uterus is pressing firmly against my colon causing an obstruction. It is likely that it is adhered to it, possibly stuck firmly to the colon. My question is, what is the likely hood of complications? And, what would those complications be?

OBGYN 's  Response
hi.If uterus is enlarged and pressing on colon and there are no adhesions of uterus with colon, then no complications. Once they remove the uterus, the obstruction will be releived. But if there are adhesions or matting of gut with uterus, then the surgeon will try to separate those adhesions and do the surgery. In rare cases, it is very difficult to separate this and there may be colon injury and then anastomosis ( repairing the 2 ends of gut) has to be done.
Thanks.
