What Are The Cure For Rash In Breast Area After Bilateral Mastectomy?
my mother in law is 74 years old and just had a bilateral mastectomy in September. She has spacers and has been having injections to increase the size gradually. right after surgery she developed a rash in between the breast area and it has expanded down and over her abdomen. it is bright red, slightly raised, and blistery. The plastic surgeon sent her to her gp and he said she was probably allergic to the antibiotics. sshe changed them and the rash has not improved at all. Any suggestions?
Hi. The area you have mentioned is between the breasts with a spacer. As this was developed right after surgery , it can be due to spread of contusion , edema fluid or extravasted blood or serum. The appearance suggests more of blocked lymphatics due to surgery. Another probable reasons can be - an allergic reaction ( to what - is always a big question) local antiseptics, dressings, local antiseptics and so on. If the area is equally distributed on both sides of the midline- seek a dermatologist.s opinion too.
