What Are The Differences Between Mesacol And Mesacol OD?
What is the difference between only mesacol and mesacol OD? In my country Bangladesh, mesacol 400mg is available. My Indian doctor prescribed me to take mesacol OD 1.2gm. Fwe months I took it, I was well. Now I don t find Mesacol OD 1.2gm. Can I take only Mesacol 400mg?
Mesacol and Mesacol OD contain the same drug Mesalamine (Mesalazine) which is an anti-inflammatory drug used to treat Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) like Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
They differ in their dose and frequency of administration is: 1. Mesacol 400 mg: The recommended dosage in adults is two 400 mg - 800 mg to be taken 3 times a day 2. Mesacol 1200 mg once a day: 1-2 tablets once daily
Since, you are unable to get Mesacol once a day, 1.2 gm (1200 mg), hence you can take 400 mg tablets as advised by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
