Student nurse here - (only guy too, so that's just even peachier). Paper on Morphone(all types, routes etc.) Is there anything really major that should be considered first before administration of dosage? A really common/frequent contraindication or adverse effect? I'm trying to be as succinct as possible. Thanks
Hi, Always check for allergies. It's given according to the weight of the patient so you should have at least an estimate of the weight. You should be cautious if the patient is already taking any opiates. Contraindications include sensitivity or allergy to opiates, respiratory compromise, head injury. Adverse effects include nausea and vomiting and respiratory depression. Hope this helps. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger
