Almost all foods contain at least a small amount of potassium.
There are some foods which contain a high level of potassium, examples are: (1) fruits such as bananas, coconut, melon, plantains, apricots
(2)vegetables such as beets, broccoli, raw carrots or cabbage, tomatoes, pickles
(3)dairy products
(4)drinks such as sport drinks , soy milk
(5)grains- whole grain breads, granula
This is not a complete list, you may want to ask your doctor to refer you to a nutritionist who may be able to help you with a
diet plan.
If the changes in the
kidney are acute and due to a reversible cause, it is possible his levels of potassium may return to normal and he can resume his normal diet.
