What Are The Health Risks Post Inhaling Spray Paint?
I think I inhaled some spray paint. I dont really have symptoms other than I just blew my nose and one or two tiny spots of paint appeared. Really tiny, but still there. I cleaned my nose quite well with water, but I m still a bit worried. What should I do? Thanks
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns. Common VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds ) found in most spray paints include Acetone, Xylene and Toluene. Whether your exposure to VOC fumes is minimal or extended, there are definite risks and side effects once the fumes are inhaled. You may have short-term side effects like nose and throat irritation. Key signs or symptoms associated with exposure to VOCs include conjunctival irritation, nose and throat discomfort, headache, allergic skin reaction, dyspnea, declines in serum cholinesterase levels, nausea, emesis, epistaxis, fatigue, dizziness. Since you are otherwise asymptomatic ,your exposure is minimal /negligible and has not caused any adverse effects.
