Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a normal bowel movement early this morning. Since then I have had x3 rush trips to the toilet with very loose bowel movements. I am feeling slightly shivery at the moment - and naturally quite washed out ! I swallowed x2 diarrohea after the first loose bowel movement and x1 after subsequent ones. I do not have an appetite for dinner - please advise me if I am doing the right thing, AND what I should be eating/drinking to help clear this up. Thank you
You are suffering from acute enteritis. Most of the times it is a self limiting illness and may not require any specific treatment. But you should be careful to get well hydrated - to keep drinking lots of liquids, juices or oral rehydration solution which are available. Even if you dont have appetite for dinner keep taking fluids. You need go to physician and need antibiotics if you develop temperature >100 F, blood in stools or severe abdominal cramps.
Take care.
