Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was wondering about something regarding drug relapse and subsequent withdrawals.
If a drug abuser (we'll say heroin) has gone through the withdrawal symptoms for about a week and is past the difficult hump of the physical withdrawal but then they take another large amount of H only once, will this very brief relapse cause a second set of withdrawals? Will it start all over?
It varies. Mostly a second set of withdrawals but further out on the curve. Withdrawal is measured on an arbitrary 40 point curve (Curve of Withdrawal Scale...COWS) peak might be a 25 on days 3 through 7, and then down to a 6 to 10, with another use it would go up to maybe a 15 and back down in about 3 days.
