Hi,
osteoporosis is a condition characterised by reduced bone mineral density. It usually occurs above 60 years. A bone is considered osteoporotic when it can get fractured even under low trauma.
Back problem could be due to spondylosis or vertebral compression fracture commonly. The injections he might be receiving might be steroids to reduce pain at the site.
Lobotomy is surgery advised in pain disorders. If the pain is too severe, nerve connections are cut to improve patients overall outlook.
I would require, more details regarding history, diagnostic findings and medications to advise more regarding the present problem.
Any further query, happy to help again.
