What Are The Long Term Side Effects Of Doxylamine Overdose On The Heart?
I overdosed on Doxylamine two years ago with the intent to die(long story but I’m taking care of my depression now). I’m also dealing with various physical health issues, including heart and gastric issues. I’m afraid that I may need a heart transplant to survive but I’m not sure. What are the long term effects of Doxylamine overdose on your heart when you die from it and required rescusitation? Would it be so severe that i may need a transplant?
Hi and Welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have read your question and here is my advice.
Sorry to hear of your sufferings. If taken in overdose , Doxyalmine can have acute effects on heart, mostly long time effects are not there if there was no permanent damage done. Which can be seen by doing echocardiography which is like ultrasound of your heart.
Heart transplant are done when heart is extremely weal such that the pt can not walk, or talk , and is severely short of breath.
If you do not have sever shortness of breath, or pedal edema , you do not need any heart transplant.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
