What Are The Long Term Side Effects Of Taking Effexor ?

Hello, I takes the 262.50 mg effexor for augenter my energy. I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome for 22 years, and I take 225mg effexor for 13 years. As I wanted to increase my energy to exercise my doctor increased my effexor to 262.50mg there 4 months. As the result means the doctor increased me to 300mg.As I have to take this drug in my life, there he has long-term risks?

I do understand your pain and discomfort. These are side effects of drug in long run:

- Changes in behaviour, agitation, tremor, nervousness, anxiety, insomnia, confusions, abnormal dreams, HTN, nausea, headache, asthenia, somnolence, dizziness, dry mouth, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, anorexia, sexual dysfunction, urinary frequency, visual disturbances, mydriasis, vasodilatation, paraesthesia, hypertonia, chills or fever, palpitations, weight gain or loss, arthralgia, myalgia, tinnitus, pruritus, dyspnea, yawning, rashes, sweating, increased serum cholesterol, may impair platelet aggregation.

This medication is not for your problem please do following investigations to confirm chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)

1) Complete blood count (CBC) with differential
2) Liver function tests
3) Thyroid function tests
4) Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
5) Serum electrolyte level measurement
