Hi I had a large tattoo done on the upper part of my arm about 2 weeks ago now and in the past 3/4 days loads of lumps have appeared all over my tattoo and is very itchy, the needle was clean and the whole environment was sterile, I don't know what to do and am a little worried about it what should I do?
Hello, Thank you for posting on HCM. The condition you have described here is contact dermatitis due to tattoo ink. Basically it means your body is reacting to the foreign substance i.e tatto ink and thus producing itchy rash. Consult your nearest dermatologist. who will prescribe you some oral drugs (corticosteroids and antihistaminics) depending on requirement. Also, you should apply cream containing corticosteroid in combination with antibiotics for local application over tatto site (Mometasone and fusidic acid etc) Dont prick or scratch the lesions as it will aggravate the condition. Hope this will take care of your query and wish you best of health. thank you Dr Hardik Pitroda
