What Are The Neurological And Gynecological Side Effects Of Zolfresh?
Hello Dr, I ve been taking zolfresh 10mg twice a day by own for the past one year.. What will be the neurological & gynaecological side effects.. Am 25 years old and basically a B.Sc (nurse).. Please suggest some ways to stop this addiction.. Thank you..
Zolfresh (zolpidem) is a sedative-hypnotic commonly prescribed to treat sleep disturbances like insomnia. Its neurological side effects include day time drowsiness, anterograde amnesia, hallucinations, gait disturbance, attention disturbance, and memory impairment.
Gynecological side effects include menorrhagia and vaginal dryness. If taken at the end of pregnancy it may cause severe neonatal respiratory depression, flaccidity and excess sedation. babies born of mothers taking zolfresh may be at risk for withdrawal symptoms.
If you wish to stop taking zolfresh suddenly it may cause withdrawal symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, irritability, and seizures. So, dose of zolfresh should be gradually reduced over several days or weeks under the supervision of your doctor.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
