What Are The Options In An Unwanted Pregnancy?

I am 21 years old and in my final year of college. I did not have intercourse but came pretty close. I am three days late for my period and I think I might be pregnant for I'm never late. What should I do now? How do I go about getting an abortion, if needed?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM!

There is no reason to worry immediately. Periods sometimes do come late (7-8 days on either side), particularly if you have history of irregular menses.
Wait for 7-8 days and you might get periods.

If you don't get even then, do a urine pregnancy test. It will tell whether you are pregnant or not.

Contraception pills will not be useful now if you are already pregnant.

There is no need to worry .Even if it comes positive and you don't want to have a baby, you may have an abortion by medical/surgical methods. I'd advise you to visit a Gynecologist in that case and she'll guide you further.

Hope I've answered your query. Feel free to ask if you have any doubts.

Wish you good health.
With regards,
Dr. Sridhar
