Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my mother 71yrs old is suffering from herpes.her left side is affected with this disease. There are sores with fluid and itching on her neck ,around left ear and on head.Is this serious and causes paralysis. What are the precautions and antidote for other family members?
I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that your mother is suffering from herpes. From the history it appears like she is having herpes zoster. This occurs because of reactivation of chicken pox infection which is usually acquired in childhood. Herpes zoster will not spread to others hence no need to worry. The treatment for herpes zoster is by use of antiherpes drugs like acyclovir.
