Dear Akshay,

I am indeed proud of brother like you who is so much concerned about the health of the sister.

Please register her name early in the hospital where she is to deliver. Let her visit the hospital for antenatal check up regularly, if possible, monthly till 7 months and then every 15 days. In the last month, she should visit clinic every week.

I would not be particular on any other medicine for her except Folic acid during first three months. Folic acid helps the establishment of pregnancy and good growth of the cells of the foetus preventing any foetal abnormalities.

Get het blood examined for haemoglobin and urine also examined. This should be done every month. Know her Blood group (ABO and Rh) and HIV status. Regular ultrasonography will monitor the foetal growth as well as show the status of pregnancy and placenta.

After 3 months, she should take regularly Iron, Calcium, multivitamins with micronutrients and mineral. Also She should receive various immunizations. Please take your Obstetrician's advice on it. They protect both, mother and child.

Any discharge from vagina should be looked upon seriously and reported to the doctor ASAP.

After 18-20 weeks of pregnancy, she should monitor her foetal movements regularly. She should feel at least 10 movements in 12 hours.

And finally, she should deliver in a maternity home and not at the home.

I think this much primary information should give you some directions for antenatal care. For more and specific information, you may ask me direct question with her reports and images when I can guide you further.
