Hi,
Thanks for the query and welcome to the forum. I am Dr Nilaj and will be happy to answer your query.
It seems that you have been taking
Althea pills regularly. They are supposed to be taken from the first day of menses for 21 days with a pill free period for the next 7 days when bleeding is expected. Some women begin the pack in the middle of the cycle and a backup method like condoms needs to be used for next seven days after beginning the pills in these cases. Please ensure that you have followed this schedule.
If yes, then the absent periods may be due to the pills that may cause an
amenorrhea or absent menses in some cases. It is difficult to say if there is a
pregnancy now. So please continue to take the next pack and repeat the pregnancy test after 7 days as it will be too early for the test to be positive now. If you want to continue the pregnancy if it is there, than do not take any pills and repeat the test after 7 days. If the test is negative, get a
hormonal assay done for other causes of absent periods like abnormal
thyroid and
prolactin hormone levels.
If pills have been taken religiously, the chance of getting pregnant is very low. So it may simply be a delayed period or pill amenorrhea and there is no need to worry about this.
Thanks for the query and I will be happy to answer any further questions.
