If both you and your partner have an AS genotype then it comes down to probabilities. you have a 25% chance of having a child with a sickle cell anaemia. a 25% chance of a normal child and 50% chance of having AS children also called as a carrier state. Now there are ways that you can determine the genotype of a child while he/she are in utero but then religious / health restrictions may prevent you from carrying out an abortion if the child has a sickling trait. And probabilities are not cumulative I.e if say your first child has a sickling trait it does not mean the second will be normal. The second child again has 25% chance of having sickle cell anaemia. If you are in love I would urge you to consider adoption.
thank you for your query.
