What Are The Risks Of Red Blood Cells Being Forced Into The Arm Muscles During Plasmapheresis?

What are the risks associated with red blood cells being forced into the muscles of the arm during plasmapheresis? I would like to know because recently a draw was stopped prior to the return of the red blood cells and an IV started in the other arm for the return of the red blood cells. The blood cells were not returned to the blood stream but were infused into the muscles instead.
