What Are The Side Effects MedroxyProgesterone For 30 Days?
Hi, my doctor prescribed me MedroxyProgesterone 10 mg for absent periods... He prescribed it to be taken once a day everyday. I have 30 pills, & 6 refills. I noticed online that its also prescribed for only 5-10 days... Do I take it daily without a lapse, & will I still get my period continousley each month?
Yes, you are right. For absent period (amenorrhea) Medroxyprogesterone drug is given for 5 to 10 days in second half of menstrual cycle. Bleeding usually happens in 3 to 7 days of stopping medication.
One thing I have to know is, whether amenorrhea primary (no menstrual bleeding till now) or secondary (menstrual cycle is already started and in between it is stopped).
For Secondary amenorrhea, do ultrasound test of abdomen to rule out pregnancy and other pathology of female reproductive system. For current scenario you just start tablets between 18 to 22th day of menstrual cycle for 5 to 10 days. This will lead to bleeding in next few days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
