What Are The Side Effects And Interactions Of Latuda And Trileptal?

New patient with bipolar illness?PTSD…on Lithobid, Trileptal and Latuda. I am concerned about the interaction between the last two. She is on higher than I prefer dose of Trileptal and low dose Latuda, but requests more Latuda because she is depressed.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. She is on Lithium Carbonate, Truleptal or Oxcarbazepine and Lurasidone. Lurasidone is an antipsychotic drug which belongs to second generation antipsychotics. The drug is considered as safe drug and have very few drug interactions. Oxcarbazepine is a mood stabiliser drug and is also one of safe drugs. It is even used as adjuvant antipsychotic drug in some mood disorders. Over all there are no serious drug interactions between the two drugs and its safe to take these drugs together. No need t worry. Advise her to take the drugs as per prescription only. Consult her psychiatrist for increase in doses of Latuda if needed.

Hope this helps you. Thanks and Take care
