What Are The Side Effects Of Balsalazide?

I have been prescribed Balsalazide for a return of my Ulcerative Colitis. Is it a steroid? I started gaining weight when I started taking it. I went back on Weight Watchers, but have not been able to loose much weight. Does it this drug inhibit weight loss?

Hello
Separate trials involving patients older than 18 years of age indicated that adults taking balsalazide disodium more often experienced the side effects of abdominal pain, diarrhea, joint pain, nasal irritation, loss of sleep, fatigue, flatulence, fever, upset stomach, sore throat, cough and loss of appetite. Abdominal pain occurred most frequently among adults.
