Betasol is a steroid cream. Because it is a steroid, it is not intended for long term use because of potential side effects. It is not intended to be used to lighten the skin.
If used in excessive quantities or for a prolonged period of time then it can cause thinning of the skin. This increases the risk of injury to the skin.
It would be best to see a dermatologist to assess your skin.
There is treatment that can be used for the acne that occurs when the steroid cream is stopped.
I hope this helps
