I had breast cancer two years ago only needed radiation but the hot flashes are horrible. Doctor gave me Brisdelle to try but worried about side effects. I m allergic to dairy so afraid of bone problems, can t take calcium and now have lost my Esteogen, I had ductal carcinoma in situ
Hello and welcome to HCM I have read your query I hope this will help BRISDELLE contains paroxitine a drug belonging to anti depressant group of drugs called SSRIs..it has been approved by FDA for treatment of hot flushes and other vasomotor symptoms.but for control of flushing and vasomotor symptoms low dose is advised .I.e.7.5mg capsules. Sideffects are not much common at this dose.but can occur and include: Common side effects: Asthenia Weakness Nausea .headache. Constipation and dry mouth In common but serious side effects include: Tachycardia. Hypertension. Nervousness.pruritis and emotional liability Most serious ones are following but they are very rare and are present at higher dosage: Depression Suicidal thought s Mania.abnormal bleeding and acute hepatitis.. I would suggest you to continue with BRISDELLE and in case of experiencing any serious side effect mentioned above.consult your GP.
