Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor gave me a prescription for Brisdelle. After reading the side effect warnings I am concerned about taking this medicine.I have been trying to research other people that have been taking this drug with no luck.Since it is a new drug how many people have had good luck with it with little or NO side effects and are my concerns legimate.
Hi. Welcome to HCM. Bridselle contains Paroxetine which has also been prescribed as the antidepressant drug Paxil, the FDA has approved Brisdelle, which contains a lower, 7.5 milligram dose, in order to provide women with a “non-hormonal alternative” to treat hot flashes and night sweats (perimenopausal symptoms). Most common possible side effects of BRISDELLE include: headache; tiredness; nausea and vomiting. Contact your healthcare provider right away if you have suicidal thoughts or actions within the first few months of treatment. New or sudden changes in mood, behavior, actions, thoughts, or feelings, especially if severe. Pay particular attention to such changes when BRISDELLE is started. Your doctor has weighed benefits against risks involved in using this drug so trust your doctor and also keep in mind above mentioned side effects. Regards.
