What Are The Side Effects Of Celexa Tablets?

Hi, I have started Celexa in the last 6 weeks. I am also on birth control in which I skip my period for a three month period. I have been doing this for about 8 years. Now all the sudden on the last pack of pills, two weeks early I am bleeding. Would the Celexa cause this? I am 39.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Celexa i.e. Citalopram usually does not cause such bleeding. Please get a pregnancy test done and consult your primary care physician in case of no improvement for further workup including blood HCG, ultrasound.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Sareer Khalil
