Hello, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries syndrome and was perscripted Diane35 or also none as Gynofen35. I am a bit concerned about the side effects as many people have told me that is causing a huge gain weight. is that true? do i need to worry and try to be careful while on that medication?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Diane 35 medication contains a combination of two ingredients: cyproterone and ethinyl estradiol. Cyproterone belongs to a group of medications known as antiandrogens. Ethinyl estradiol belongs to a group of medications known as estrogens. Since they are hormonal preparations, some of the side effects of its use include: breast tenderness, skin changes, dizziness, headache, decreased libido, nausea, vomiting, swelling of ankles and feet, unusual tiredness and weight changes. Due to fluid and water retention, there could be experience of some of the side effects like headache, swelling of feet and weight gain. However, these effects are reversible and can be treated symptomatically. Kindly contact your doctor if you experience these side effects and they are severe or bothersome. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
