What Are The Side Effects Of Epilim?

My 32 year old sone has been having what seemed like absences. He was prescribed Epilim, which he chose not to take because of the possible side effects. Now a blood test has revealed he has the gene for narcolepsy. What could have happened if he has started on the Epilim?
