For condition like PCOS, oral hypoglycemic drugs like
Glycomet is administered as it would stabilize blood
glucose and reduce
insulin resistance at the end organs, which will aid in proper ovulation process and improves the chances of fertility.
SR stand for 'sustained release' of the medication.
Glycomet SR tablet contains 'Metformin' as an active ingredient.
It works by decreasing the amount of glucose and controls the amount of glucose in the blood.
Glycomet SR side-effects includes the following:
1. Lack or loss of appetite for food
2. Diarrhoea
3. Gastrointestinal disturbances
4. Nausea
5. Vomiting
However, these side-effects are possible, but do not always occur.
It does help to reduce weight. It is advisable to also reduce your weight by taking less
carbohydrate & fat diet with inclusion of more proteins and fibres along with regular exercise.
It is also essential to reduce weight along when you are having PCOS, as it is known to improve the chances of overcoming
infertility.
