I have had my implanon implant in since July. I have had 3-4 periods with light bleeding lasting 1-2 days, no cramping, pain or anything. About 17 days ago I started my period and it is still going on. It is heavy with lots of clots. When should I be concerned with my blood levels and is this normal?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Implanon IUD is known to cause irregularities in menstruation in first few months of use.You are already bleeding for 17 days- You should wait patiently for a couple of days more for the bleeding to stop.Take rest, take capsule of CVP gynae 2 capsules three times a day . If it still is not controlled, I would advise you to consult your treating gynecologist to exclude any other cause for the bleeding. Thanks.
