What Are The Side Effects Of Methadone?

I have a patient undergoing an endoscopic procedure and will get IV Propofol. The patient takes 20mg daily of Methadone. Are there any concerns that I should notify the patient of or should the patient hold off on Methadone dosing until after the procedure is completed?

Hello
Thanks for your query.
Common side effects of methadone are drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and loss of appetite. I would recommend to stop methadone on the day of procedure and later you can restart it after 12 hours of procedure if patient is stable.
Thank you.
