my wife has a fiver and is very tired and is sleeping all the day she has aches and pains head and eyes and numerous other symptoms is this the flu. Also she is taking a new medication nitrofurantoin mon/mac for a bladder problem what are the effects for this med.

Nitrofurantoin can cause nausea, vomiting, disconfort in the stomach, diarrhea, gas, rust-colored or brownish urines, vaginal itching or discharge, headaches. Her symptoms could be caused more probably by the flu, although headache can be caused by the drug.
