Hi I have been taking sertraline every night for almost 4 years. Two months ago I started to wake up with hives on my legs and arms but now I get anywhere on my body. I get hives only at night. Can sertraline be the reson why I wake up with hives every morning?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Sertraline is a SSRI drug and the drug is a good anti depressant and anti anxiety drug. Overall the drug is considered as one of safest SSRI drug and is free of any serious side effects. Common side effects like Restlessness, sedation, nausea, diarrhoea etc are seen. In some individuals rashes may develop some times. But hives are not seen commonly with this drug. Still if you are developing hives with this drug then you can reduce the doses for some days and then see if hives disappear. Consult your psychiatrist for any persisting symptoms.
Thanks
