EEG REPORT IS ABNORMAL BUT CT SCAN IS NORMAL .HOWEVER DOCTOR STARTED VALPARIN 200 SYRUP 3.5 ML BD .I AM AFRAID AND ANXIOUS ABOUT THIS MEDICINE. PL GUIDE ME THAT WHAT IS THE SIDE EFECT OF THIS MEDICINE IF ANY .PL REPLY.
Since your son had seizure(fits) for 2 hours and his eeg is abnormal,he has some seizure disorder and must be kept on some anti epileptic drug.Valparin(valproic acid) is like a broad spectrum anti epileptic agent very useful in a lot of type of seizures and is quite commonly used by neurologist. In my experience, I have seen some patients(I am not a neurologist) on valproate without much problem. For your information I shall provide below most of the side effects of valproate though I suggest not to get too much tensed reading all of this as you have to realise that side effects are present for most anti epileptics.
