Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was on Paxil 12.5mg CR for years. After a recent panic attack my Dr switch me to Zoloft 50mg. I ve had 10 doses and have had bad reactions. He said to stop all meds and referred me to someone else. Can I simply go back to Paxil to eleviate the reaction?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
Paxil is Paroxetine and Zoloft is Sertraline. Both drugs belong to SSRI group of anti depressants and anti anxiety drugs. Both drugs have almost same efficacy. If you developed bad reaction with Sertraline then you can go for Paxil again. Doses of Sertraline should be reduced gradually and of Paxil should be escalated gradually to prevent any other side effects. Take the drugs as per proper prescription only.
Thanks
