Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 17 yr old niece had a urine test with 8-10 rbc, puss cell 1-3 hpf..the dr said she needs a ultrasound and the result was normal..but the r prescribed a ceprflaxacin 500 to take twice a day, is the med riht for her?after taking it she had an allergy, skin itch and rashes.plsadvise.
Based on the results of your niece's urine test, it's possible that she had a urinary tract infection (UTI) which is commonly treated with antibiotics like ciprofloxacin. However, if she had an allergic reaction to the medication, it is important that she stops taking it immediately and consults with her doctor.
Allergic reactions to antibiotics are not uncommon, and they can range from mild to severe. The symptoms you described (skin itch and rashes) suggest a mild allergic reaction, but it's still important that she seeks medical advice to determine the severity of the reaction and what steps to take next.
It's possible that her doctor may prescribe a different antibiotic that is less likely to cause an allergic reaction. Alternatively, they may recommend other treatments or further testing to determine the underlying cause of her symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
