My son has been a heavy drinker for approx 15 years (10-15 cans a night) He also had his spleen remove when he was 7 , he is 39 now. Of late he has not been feeling well and is overly tired all the time. I am very concerned what effects the alcohol has had on his body with no spleen
Alcohol use can cause addiction. It will lead to physical and psychological ill-health. Physical include liver disease, hepatic encephalopathy, chronic gastrointestinal diseases, Malabsorption syndromes, electrolyte imbalance, fatty liver, and cirrhosis of liver etcetera.
Alcohol intoxication can cause irritability, violent behavior, feelings of depression, and, in rare instances, hallucinations and delusions. It would be better to avoid it for better health. Consult a psychiatrist for counseling and motivational interview for the cessation of alcohol.
