What Are The Side Effects Of Duphaston?

hi dr i took duphaston for three months each month from day 15 till day 28 due to irregular cycle now i wait for a period i have brown discharge from vagina for one time after one day of stoppage of duphaston and today day 4 and there is no other discharge or period what is this discharg?and why the period not start till now??

Hi,

Duphaston contains Dydrogesterone which is similar to the female hormone progesterone. The most common side effects of this medicine include headache, nausea and breast pain. It may also cause bleeding or spotting in between menstrual periods.

Brown discharge could indicate the starting of bleeding. It may be old blood from previous cycles. You may have to wait for 7 to 10 days maximum for the bleed to occur after stopping the drug.
