General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Duspatal (mebeverine) retard is used to treat abdominal pain and cramps, flatulence, persistent, and diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome. Its common side effects include vomiting, headache, indigestion, heartburn and constipation. These side effects can be prevented either by reducing the dose of duspatal retard or using an alternate effective but a safer medication.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
