Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m taking flucloxacillin and have found my tongue becoming more and more numb. I m also constantly itchy all over. Both if these things have only started in the last couple of days (since I ve been taking the tablets) and I don t seem to be having any other problems, is it ok to keep taking them?
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Yes, I think taking any antibiotic (flucloxacillin is antibiotic) can cause some amount of itchiness along with some rashes, however generally they do not lead to numb tongue but if the symptoms have started after you have started taking flucloxacillin it is most probably because of that only. Mild symptoms should not worry much and you should continue taking a full course of antibiotics.
However, if symptoms are severe it is advised that you consult your doctor and get your medicines changed. Also, do let me know the symptoms for which you are taking flucloxacillin, it will also help me decide.
Let me know if this was helpful and do ask if you have any further questions.
Regards, Dr. Akash Kumar
