Hello thanx for using hcm
Sir basically its good to take more proteins when your doing muscle building exercise, weight lifting, but for maintaining normal muscle you just require 1gm to 1.5 gm per kg of your body weight ,That can be met by dietary protein sources.you dont require special supplements or shakes.

LIKE 1 cup of milk gives 8 gm of protein
one ounce of meat, chicken gives 7 gm of protein
one egg gives 7 gm
1/2 cup of dal and beans gives 10 gm of protein
1 serving of cereal gives 3 gms of protein.

For Body building you dont need to starve just consuming proteins,
you should have proper balanced meals with cereal, protein, fats, fruits and vegetables all are essential for the body.
Excess proteins put burden on kidneys.long term high protein diet ends up in high uric acid levels, impaired kidney functioning.
