Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 90 year old mother is wishing to end her life with a vicodin overdose. She is taking 10g/325g 2-3 times a day for chronic pain. she is very determined, i want her to be safe.. what are the dangers of an overdose that is either too few or too many to cause death? Thank you
Vicodin causes respiratory depression. If your mother has severe pains, then taking as much as she needs to be pain free is the recommended standard.. Whether this ends her life or not is ethically sound and there is no reason to be so concerned about this. Persons differ in response and the goal is to just as much as to control pain and not how much is needed to end her life.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for suing our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
