HI Doc, I used to take corex and had been using it for lst 12 months. Now I have stopped using it and coz of this have acute acidity and breathlessness. Please advice, what do I need to do....Should I visit my Doc for futher support or this is something common after effects to any addiction........Plz answere.....
Hello Corex is a combination of CODEINE + CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE and is a most potent drug for and used as a cough suppressant . Since you were suing this drug since one year and now stopped it , this is a very good step and in right direction . Acute gastritis and breathlessness are the side effects or withdrawal effects of COREX. Since corex is a habit forming drug or drug dependence drug . Withdrawal symptoms are: Nuasea, vomiting , drowsiness , constipation, difficulty in micturition, headache sweating respiratory depression ( as in your case ) , hypotension & hypothermia and so many other symptoms . Within next 10-15 days you will not feel any side effects ( withdrawal symptoms ) , so no need to consult any one but if symptoms are unbearable then consult a physician / psychiatrist and get opinion. Good luck.
