Hello, my question is the following. I m 24 years old. I had sex last week and the condom broke, so i took a Norlevo pill on monday (the day after intercourse). Unfortunately the same exact thing has happened this weekend. I feel i should take another Norlevo pill as soon as I can, but I m afraid of the side effects of taking this pill twice in one menstrual cycle. Recommendations? If i take it again, what side effects might i expect? Thank you
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Norlevo is morning after pill. It contains the active ingredient levonorgestrel. It is emergency contraceptive pill that is used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex. The tablet must be taken as soon as possible but not more than 72 hours after having unprotected sex. It primarily works by stopping your ovaries from releasing an egg or delaying the release of egg. After you have taken the pill, if you want to have sex, it is recommended that you should use other contraceptive methods, because Norlevo won't stop pregnancy from further unprotected sex. If Norlevo is used more than once in a menstrual cycle it is more likely to upset your menstrual cycle. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
