What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Regestrone During Pregnancy?

Hi, I am 27 year old, married. On 7th Jan I got my periods. Me and my husband had protected sex only once. But I have a doubt that I may be pregnant. I can’t check for my pregnancy before 35 days (If I’m not wrong). My problem is - we have pooja at our home on 9th Feb and my periods date should be on 7th Feb. I want to take regestrone to postpone my periods for few days (only for 5 days). Is that okay if I am taking regestrone without doing pregnancy test? Or how to check for the pregnancy before 30 days? What will happen if I’m pregnant and I took regestrone for 5 - 7 days? Please answer to my question as soon as possible. Let me know if you need any more details regarding the same.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

A home pregnancy test is considered effective from anytime after 2 weeks from the time of unprotected sexual contact. Regesterone should not be taken if pregnancy is suspected and so it is best to first confirm pregnancy and only then take any pills. Please remember that you are solely responsible for the life growing inside of you (in case you are pregnant). The pooja is not as important as life itself, please confirm or rule out pregnancy first.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
