I am a 45 year old female with two children. I have had the Merina iud inserted 21/2 years ago this is my second one. I have experienced no bleeding when menstruating I had some spotting last week and was concerned I made an appointment to see my gynaecologist and he did a ultrasound and found a cyst on my right ovary with a daughter cyst he has referred me onto a more detailed ultrasound and I am concerned. Should I be?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Ovarian cysts can be benign or malignant. The nature of the cyst can be confirmed by a Doppler ultrasound and serum tumour marker CA-125. I would suggest you to get investigations done to assess the nature of the cyst and get further management accordingly. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
