my father died yesterday and I am thinking it is because of me my father were heart patient and yesterday he start sweating and feeling cold like head was soo cold and legs were freezing instantly I gave nicorandil 10mg and after 20 min he died is it because of nicorandil?? I am so afraid !!!
Hello. Thanks for writing to HCM. I am Dr Sarika and I will be answering your query today. Sorry to hear about the loss of your father.
Nicorandial is a vasodilatory drug - it increases the flow of blood to the heart. It increases the heart rate to an extent as well. It sounds like your father had a cardiac arrest. Nicorandial is not used in patients with cardiac failure. It would be not right to say that he passed away due to your medication. You were prompt in giving him the first aid you knew best. Do not think it affected him adversely. But if he were to go to an emergency they would not have used it. There are other kinds of medications to treat him in such situations. I hope you find the strength to go through this tough period. Please do not worry. This is already a tough time for you. Warm regards.
